ABOUT DOUG
I grew up and graduated from La Crescent Minnesota Sr High School in 1982 and went to Army ROTC Training immediately after I graduated.
I earned my commission as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army Reserves in 1984 after graduating from Wentworth Military Academy & Jr College in Lexington, Missouri. While attending UW-La Crosse I worked for the Boy Scouts of America at the Northern Tier High Adventure Base in Ely, Minnesota. After graduating from UW-La Crosse, I accepted the position as District Executive with the Boy Scouts working at the Lake Superior Boy Scout Council, now the Voyageurs Area Council in Duluth, Minnesota.
My Army career spanned 29 years. I was in several leadership and staff positions responsible for 30 to 6000 Soldiers. I was a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, Company Commander, Facilities Engineer, Brigade Executive Officer and Deputy Director for Logistics and Future Plans. I deployed to Panama (1996), Guatemala (1998), Cambodia (1998), Korea (2001), Egypt (2010) and Afghanistan (2011). I retired from Active Service in the Army in 2012 as a Corps of Engineers Lieutenant Colonel.
After I retired from the Army in 2012 I moved to Minnesota I became active in politics by attending local meetings. I have served as a committee member in my BPOU. I have volunteered for several candidates by putting up signs, door-knocking, phone calling and helping to run their campaigns.
I am married to my beautiful wife Koren of 12 years, and we have two very adorable goldendoodle puppies.
I will be an advocate for working values, doing the hard work to promote a sound, honest and constitutional government in the State of Minnesota and will dialogue with all constituents, regardless of affiliation.
